Open Question: Do other countries do this?

I've lived on the mainland US for about 3 years now. Before this, I used to live in Guam, US Territory. I would watch mostly International News BBC, ABC (Australia), etc. I've only seen this in American News. In America, you always here how you are not only watching or seeing history but apart of history. There is always this sense that your part of something greater than yourself. Has anyone else noticed this? It doesn't happen all the time but you almost never see this in other countries news. star it so I can get more answers. I'd just like to know people's views on this....
